ABOUT COLOUR BLIND AWARENESS
Colour blindness is a condition affecting one in 12 men and one in 200 women worldwide, creating many challenges for sport including impacting upon player performance, fans’ ability to watch games and to purchase tickets and merchandise, stadium safety and security amongst many other factors, yet is under-recognised across most sports.
Colour Blind Awareness (CBA) is the only NGO working across different sports advising governing bodies, national associations, leagues and clubs, broadcasters, venue operators, sponsors, manufacturers and other stakeholders on the implications of colour blindness for their spheres of influence.
At International level, CBA created the first ever guidance document on colour blindness in any sport (for UEFA) and worked with World Rugby to create its guidance for rugby. The organisation also has Official Observer status to the Council of Europe Committee on Stadium Safety Security and Service, having had a direct input into the content of the European Convention.
CBA acts as a consultant advising on diverse aspects ranging from full stadium audits, to training for coaches and advising competition organisers and leagues in how to avoid colour blind kit ‘clashes’.
